Well, if you are like Fusioncorp you are always on the lookout for the coolest, newest and slickest fonts around. We really have to watch ourselves because to be honest once the font search is in our blood we can literally can spend hours downloading fonts like a mad man.

So why not a Fusioncorp font pick of the month. This months font is ALLER, designed by Dalton Maag in London and Brazil!

Aller in our opinion is a great marketing font for large in your face headers and tag lines.

A brief shout out to the designers of this great font. (From Dalton Maag’s website.)

“Dalton Maag has been designing fonts and logos since 1991. In that time we have had steady organic growth, increasing our skills and knowledge, increasing the size of projects that we handle, and expanding our staff to, today, ten professionals in three offices across the world.

Dalton Maag in London is our primary office; it is where we first started assisting design agencies to provide high quality logo designs and font solutions to their clients. Today, most design and all production work is carried from our London office by our team of designers and engineers.

Dalton Maag Brazil opened in 2008, where we believe we can contribute greatly to emerging high quality branding and design in South America. Besides day-to-day client liaison the office in Brazil also carries out font design to the same high standards as our London office, allowing us to respond quickly to any project arising in this exciting market.

Dalton Maag Cairo was established in the autumn of 2009 to respond to the increasing demand for high quality Arabic fonts. The office is responsible for assisting our clients in the Arabic-speaking market and is actively involved in designing fonts, both custom and for our Exclusives library.

We are proud to support and assist people in deepening their typographic skills. For this reason we have accepted internships for students and design practitioners for a number of years. Some of our past interns have become well-known designers and have designed successful font families.”

Check them out here

Download the font here.

Enjoy and until next month happy fonting.

As we all know technology has and will always be the progressive push in the latest trends. These trends, if caught on by the masses will usually become something that moves and molds the culture in which we live. We couldn’t help but be impressed by the latest buzz in iPhone app technology and the innovative people who use it.

The Rend Collective Experiment, for example. These cool cats started in 2004 as a group of confused 20-somethings trying to figure out life, God and community. Then in 2007 it grew into a collection of musicians and artists trying to share with the world what they were learning.

The Rend Collective Experiment are using the iPhone to create music you think would come from traditional instruments. As unrealistic as that may be one day we might lose the guitars, forget the piano and ditch the drum set. Take all that equipment, chuck it in your pocket and roll to practice. All of the equipment you used to need is now available on your iPhone.

Go to www.rendcollectiveexperiment.com and check out this stellar collaboration of Christian dudes killing it with the iPhone. 86 your guitar Steve Vai…

If you are like many of us here at Fusioncorp, lunch time brings us little in the way of actually eating food. We stay busy!

Most days we wake up, make a bee line to the coffee pot, get the kids up or take the dog out, kiss your wife and out the door you go, right! Then noon comes and you find yourself going out for lunch swearing to yourself the night before that the yummy sandwich you left in the fridge will be your lunch tomorrow.

The solution was an Urban Garden! Fusioncorp and VES has planted an urban garden at the gate of our Media Collaboratory castle. Making lunch is as easy as bringing a bottle of ranch to the office. This is our second year and I am here to tell you that it is great.

So what is on the menu this year? We have planted peas, carrots, kale, mustard, spring onions and spinach. So if you find yourself downtown and it’s lunch time just give us a call and lunch is on us!

If you are interested in planting an urban garden check out this really cool site Earth First.

Well it’s about time right! Fusioncorp has been boasting merchandise for what, forever… Well now it’s here! Due to the volume of request to get our shirts on-line Fusioncorp has parked WOMBAT TEES on our site just until we design and launch the official Wombat site. Yeah you guessed it – TO BE COMING SOON! Our desire to push the boundaries of web design, marketing and advertising leads us into many avenues of fun artistic projects that further enhance who we are. After all if we can’t advertise our products, why would you want us to advertise yours. Anyway enough about the philosophy of Fusioncorp. WOMBAT TEES!!!

Wombat Tees offers a really cool concept to be planted on your chest. Everyone loves animals, right? Well we’ve taken some time to give shout outs to the rare and adorable animals from the far reaches of the world. There are some really interesting facts about these rare critters that you might not find in your googling and schooling.

Take some time to view the first runs of what will soon be many more. Sizes and quantities are limited so order now or you might find your friends pointing and laughing at your lack of animal representation…

Cool facts about our animals.

Wombat fact: If you grab a wombat on the back, a wombat will kick backward with both hind feet like a donkey. Thus, ripping your lower torso form top.

Lama fact: Good Llamas eat pink donuts, all the time. Consequently, bad Llamas eat chocolate eclairs.

Hummingbird fact: Humming bird fact: 90% of hummingbirds are called nectivores meaning they eat nectar. But, 10% are carnivores and have been known to eat humans.

Kiwi bird fact: With it’s long beak, the Kiwi gigs up and chows on worms. Barbarians during the 12 century used the Kiwi bird as darts in a game that is similar to the modern game of lawn darts.

Penquin fact: A group of penguins are called colonies or a rookery. A single penquin is called a loser or a nobody.

Get ahold of your very own shirt by going to Fusioncorp’s Merchandise page

Jean Farris, Kentucky’s specialty vintners have harvested – harvested a new website that is! As of today, the redesign will go live and be visible online and out of beta. The site includes an in-site reservation system and the full wine list. You can also find directions to the vineyard and an events section telling you what’s going to be happening at the winery or wherever the owners happen to be.

The site is out of beta, but will unfortunately go live without the online purchasing system in place. However, we are working around the clock to implement this before the site is “live” for too long. Check it out and be sure to give us a call if you like what we do…

You can almost smell Fall in the air. That cool brisk breeze the leaves turning people getting into those normal non-summer work hours. We might be designers and those people who like art house movies and espresso Machiatos, but we still love a good football game. Most of us have grilled burgers and cooked chili off the back end of a trailer hitch in a parking lot. Yes tailgatting. So, weather your like us and love your favorite college team that can’t seem to win more than 8 games any given year or you love that super NFL team with circus studs named Ochocinco… either way we now can follow our teams and interact with friends on a site we are proud to have built the backend system and wagering functionality. We kinda think of it as the Facebook for sports. What is it? Well you might have heard of Wagers4Free.com.

Completed almost a year ago we have been watching this site grow and grow. With Football season here it’s probably the busiest time of year for Wagers4free.com. With the newly completed Office Pool system just for football this year, it plans to be a good year for them. What’s unique about Wagers4Free.com is that its…well…free. I’m not going to go into the sales pitch for this awesome site that we built for Two Brothers out of Chicago. The site can speak for itself. We are just excited it’s football season and we have built a place to go to bet on your favorite losing…achem…winning team. If you see us tailgating playing on my iphone there’s a good chance we’re updating the spreads and trying not to scream with our favorite team is not covering the spread. On that note. Go CATS! & Go Chargers!

Cheers,

Advertising today is a strict & insurmountable beast in which one without the necessary tools and guise can and will fail miserably in a futile attempt to beguile the markets with inferior design principles and, all too often, unremembered strategies. I just went to the store to find myself staring down the cookie aisle. One wouldn’t think that such a thing as a cookie aisle could infuse such a response amongst the masses, but it does. Think about it – everyone eats cookies at some point. I noticed something really exquisite while admiring Nabisco’s Nilla® Wafers. The coupons for these cookies were created in such a way that I wanted to buy them without first seeing the box and without second thought (and I’m in the design/advertising business thus, knowing the tricks and marketing ideas). It doesn’t matter. They still market you just the same. You’re just able to empathize with the “behind-the-scenes” people creating the products you want to purchase.

Were they marketed to women, men, kids, boys or girls? You could see a trend of the bright colored boxes and coupons intended for the immediate acquiring of these famous, well-known tongue teasers. They had little recipes on the sides of their packaging undoubtedly intended for the oodles of women coursing through the doors of the local Kroger. Even though the competitors do the same thing, Nabisco has great recipes (at least that’s what I hear my girlfriend say) and are used by women and bachelors alike. That’s another thing – the package designs are suggested for men and women, too. They suggest the buying of other products from Nabisco to aid in the preparation of said recipe. It’s a billion dollar a year business created by adding a few simple words to a box. These marketing strides for goal expansion are the only things separating Nabisco from the myriad other cookie creators of the world, but it’s almost like they have a patent on the sidebar recipes that are unscathed by any attempt by the enemy – companies who are competing in their own markets.

Design-wise, the boxes had the signature Nilla® wafer imaged on the front of the classic, yellow container. The cookies were arranged in such a way that they created a flow on the box in an up, down, up, down pattern. On the edges of each box the wafer’s image was cut in half. When coupled with another twin box to either the left or the right, the pattern continued down the rack to the end of the aisle until the last box was reached by the onlooker’s eyes. Excellent, if only to carry the eye down the aisle to the other cookies Nabisco makes so as to entice your purchase of the mouth-watering ganibganabs of goodness. I want some now.

“You have to have an edge in world of advertising today. This edge has to be continued constantly and cannot falter or it’s your butt and the butts of those around you. Keep your wits about yourself and be bold, daring and often break away from the perspectives you had prior to beginning your next big design.”

As designers, advertisers or marketers we essentially have tools at our disposal that we use to get the job done. Tools like Photoshop or Illustrator are key for designers, while some marketers see Excel or Google Analytics as a tool for them. Not unlike the past when painters and sculptures used brushes and chisels, we too today rely on a great many tools to help us get the job done. Some artists back in the old days had secret items they would use to give there piece of art or item a special look or even function. Take for example my old Sculpture classmate in college. We both would build our models in wax and styrofoam before casting them in metal. And like most models the more detail you can attain early on before you casts the metal the less grinding and welding you would be doing later. This is where my friend would blow everyone away. He built an heat adjustable soldering iron and wire cutter out of a screw driver, a car battery, an avocado, and a bunch of other McGuyverism he found. This enabled him to create specific detail using controled heat at the end of a metal rod or wire to carve or texture. I on the other hand had to find other ways to create detail or use his when he wasn’t looking.

I find that we all have our special tools that we use to get the style or look we call our own. Some designers have specialty photoshop brushes. While others create their own font for a special type treatment. I find that the tools that us advertisers use are even more vast today than ever before.

With the rise of Social Media into mainstream. Its shown itself as a proven way to reach a certain audience. You can’t deny thats it’s become a way for us in advertising to reach people and even craft our creative in a different way than before. Claiming social media is as useful of a tool as Photoshop in creation might be a stretch, but when you look at Twitter and the power of 140 characters has on mass amounts of people. It’s hard to say it’s not a powerful device to build from.

Here at Fusioncorp Design we are always thinking of what new or special tool we can use for every project that comes our way. We like to keep leaving our mark on the world as the past artists have left for us. So next time you look at creative work…whether its a print ad or web site… think for a moment about the people and the unique tools they used to create something that caught your eyes or spoke to your mind.

Share with us you special tool of the trade! We promise not to steal them… not without your permission of course.
